Clean tubes feature a smooth surface, ultra-high purity, high-precision tolerances, excellent inner surface roughness, with an inner surface Ra of less than 0.4 μm. They are primarily used in industries with high cleanliness requirements, such as semiconductors, medical catheters, food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals, superheater heat exchangers, high-purity gas and fluid piping systems, among others. These tubes are manufactured in accordance with ASTM A269/A270 standards. For environments demanding utmost cleanliness, the tubes undergo nitrogen purging and packaging in clean-rooms to meet these stringent requirements. The inner surfaces of the tubes can be supplied in a bright annealed (BA) or electro-polished (EP) finish.

Below are some of the special refining methods used to manufacture such ultra-pure stainless steel tubes:

1.Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM): This process significantly reduces the gas content in metals (such as oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen) and can also remove some non-metallic inclusions.

2.Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR): This process further improves the purity of the metal, reduces inclusions, and helps achieve more uniform composition.

3.Electroslag Remelting (ESR): effectively removes non-metallic inclusions from the metal, improving the material's purity.

For example, a type of ultra-high purity SUS316L stainless steel tube named K S 007 is produced using a triple-refining method of VIM-VAR-ESR. This material has extremely high purity and meets the strict requirements for material purity in the semiconductor industry.
